
Protective Service Specialist

Auxiliary firefighters play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe auxiliary firefighter will be responsible for responding to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team. This includes promoting community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities, developing and maintaining competencies through regular drills and training courses, and operating specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Manual C Class driver's licence
- Australian Permanent Resident Status
- Livability within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire station
In addition to these requirements, the QFES expects that all auxiliary firefighters will commit to the following throughout their employment:
- Attending incident and emergency calls – 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours; or 30% of calls as a shift worker or have non-routine hours
- Attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions
- Obtaining an MRV licence, at their own expense, within 12 months of employment
- Participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care
To determine your suitability for this role, you will be assessed on leadership and management behavioural competencies such as Performance through Vision, Performance through Results, and Performance through Accountability. You will also be required to exemplify the QFES shared values of Respect, Integrity, Trust, Courage, and Loyalty.
