Job Description

The role of an Auxiliary Firefighter is a critical component of the emergency response team, working alongside paid firefighters to protect lives and properties in Queensland.

As an auxiliary firefighter, you will be responsible for responding to emergency incidents, conducting drills and training sessions, and contributing to community education activities.

Successful candidates must possess strong communication skills, a high level of physical fitness, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

By joining our team as an auxiliary firefighter, you will play a vital role in maintaining public safety and emergency preparedness throughout Queensland.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Employers written consent to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
  • Live or work within a reasonable distance of auxiliary fire station
  • Australian Permanent Resident Status
  • Manual C Class driver's licence

In addition to these requirements, successful applicants will be expected to commit to attending 50% of emergency calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker or have non-routine hours. They must also participate in regular drills and training sessions, obtain an MRV licence within 12 months, and comply with QFES policies and procedures.
