Position Overview

The ANU College of Law, Governance and Policy (CLGP) is a progressive and newly established College that brings together four world-leading academic schools dedicated to shaping the future of law, governance, regulation, policy and population health. The Crawford School of Public Policy is one of four Schools within CLGP and one of the world's leading public policy schools. The Crawford School is the University's focal point for contributing to public policy research, education and policy impact. Its graduate programs have trained many of the region's leaders, and its research has impacted on policy making. Public policy scholarship at Crawford School is characterised by high quality, policy-relevant research across a range of disciplines.

The Department of Policy and Governance (POGO), where the positions will be based, focuses on key challenges governments and societies confront in managing a complex world. POGO faculty are passionate researchers, and their work offers important insights into the most pressing policy issues of our time. Particular interests include comparative politics, development, energy, environmental challenges, gender, indigenous peoples, international politics, political participation, public management, social policy, and trade. POGO's regional expertise is diverse as well, covering not only Australia but also a wide range of countries throughout Asia and the Pacific.

Developing Innovative Policy Solutions

The Crawford School's Department of Policy and Governance is seeking ambitious early- to mid-career researchers with innovative policy-focused research agendas and who are committed to high quality teaching. The Department seeks to make two fixed-term (2 year) appointments at the Lecturer (B) or Senior Lecturer (C) level. Level of appointment will be based on the attributes and experience of the successful applicants.

Our Expectations

The successful applicants will complement and extend existing teaching and research strengths within the Department. They will demonstrate an emerging or established research track record with a commitment to research excellence in the realm of policy and governance. The successful applicants will primarily teach within our Master of Public Policy (MPP) and Master of Public Administration (MPA) programs, but may also contribute to other educational activities, including executive education. The appointees will also play an important part in the life of the Crawford School through research supervision, administrative/service duties, and participating in public and policy engagement activities. Our academic staff have been very successful across a range of funding schemes, and we encourage and support our people to pursue these opportunities.
