Advanced Manufacturing Equipment Technician

This role plays a vital part in the success of our Chemical, Materials and Manufacturing Cluster. You will be responsible for supporting cutting-edge research and teaching activities by operating and maintaining advanced manufacturing equipment.
Our ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with 3D printers, injection moulding machines, and other manufacturing equipment. They will also be proficient in CAD/CAM software and possess strong troubleshooting skills.
The successful applicant will contribute to innovative projects in manufacturing and industrial engineering while guiding students and staff on the use of laboratory resources.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain advanced equipment: manage a range of manufacturing equipment, including 3D printers, injection moulding machines, coordinate measuring machine and recycling extruders.
- Oversee fabrication processes: provide support with 3D printing, silicon casting including CAD/CAM designing for components, and coordinate external processes including aluminium casting, sheet metal fabrication, and CNC machining to support teaching and research outcomes.
- Support teaching and research activities: provide technical expertise and support for academic staff and students, including demonstrations and instruction on equipment use.
- Manage laboratory operations: oversee inventory, procurement, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and materials, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
