School Counsellor – Therapeutic Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Counsellor to join our Care Team at Prescott College Southern. As a key member of our pastoral care team, you will work closely with students to ensure their emotional, social, and wellbeing needs are being met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support and professional advice to students in the areas of wellbeing and mental health.
- Support teachers and families in understanding student mental health concerns and provide strategies to support their learning and wellbeing.
- Maintain confidentiality, along with accurate and up-to-date client notes and written communications.
Requirements:
- Recognised qualifications in counselling or a degree in an allied field.
- Demonstrated experience working with children, adolescents, and their families to address various mental health, developmental, and learning concerns.
- Ability to implement evidence-based therapeutic techniques and develop intervention plans, including safety plans, attendance plans, and student support plans.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders on many levels to ensure holistic support for students.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
- Support for the Christian ethos of the School.
Desirable Characteristics:
- Personal commitment to the Christian faith and a lifestyle consistent with that decision.
- Knowledge and experience working in an educational setting.
