About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our team at Relationships Australia South Australia. As a Counsellor, you will play a vital role in providing trauma-informed counselling and support to victims of crime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality counselling services to victims of crime, addressing their immediate needs and providing guidance throughout the criminal justice process.
  • Collaborate with relevant support services to address the critical needs of individuals, including SAPOL, VOCSA, DPP, housing, health, mental health, financial, and aged care.
  • Perform risk and safety assessments, conduct counselling sessions, review progress, maintain accurate records, and report outcomes.
  • Establish effective communication with key stakeholders in the criminal justice system, upholding principles of confidentiality while ensuring compliance with mandatory reporting obligations.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing counselling to those affected by violence, abuse, and trauma.
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based therapeutic practices, including family therapy, narrative therapy, strength-based therapies, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and processes.
