Job Overview

The Chief Naval Architect will play a pivotal role in navigating complex business challenges and providing expert guidance on best practices. With autonomy, they will solve intricate Naval Architecture problems independently.

This demanding position may involve leading teams or projects, requiring deep expertise in Naval Architecture and a broad understanding within the Engineering discipline.

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15-20 years of experience in oil and gas engineering, with a proven track record of leading engineering teams and performing naval analysis for offshore structures.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture (Master's preferred) is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of installation techniques, analysis methods, standards, codes, and guidelines is essential.
  • Strong project coordination and execution skills are necessary.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or membership in a professional engineering society is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will lead engineering teams in the design and installation of offshore structures, including conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses.
  • They will provide installation load assessments and calculations to ensure structural integrity and equipment capacity.
  • Weather conditions for offshore operations will be evaluated and assessed.
  • The ability to address complex problems with in-depth skills and broad business knowledge is crucial.
  • Detailed design calculations, reports, and procedures will be prepared.
  • The successful candidate will manage time and resources effectively as Lead Engineer.
  • Complex concepts will be communicated clearly and persuasively.
  • Discipline engineering design, planning, and execution will be directed within schedule and budget.
  • Coordination with other disciplines, vendors, and project teams will be carried out to develop clash-free designs.
  • Bid engineering, scope evaluation, and change management will be supported.
  • Clients, certifying authorities, and third parties will be interfaced with.
  • Technical documents, vendor data, and design verification will be reviewed and approved.
  • Project progress, KPIs, and corrective actions will be monitored and implemented.
  • Engineers will be guided and supervised, ensuring engineering integrity and quality.
  • Participation in project audits, reviews, and lessons learned will be expected.
  • Assistance in training staff and developing technical standards will be provided.
