Job Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Rolling Stock Design Specialist to provide expertise and support for emerging fleet issues and the introduction of new rail products.
This role is ideal for a Senior/Principal level engineer with hands-on experience in electrical design aspects of rail fleet, including metro, high-speed, light rail vehicles, or locomotives.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer specialist engineering guidance and expertise related to the electrical engineering discipline for rolling stock/locomotive products.
- Design and check/review rail components and systems to ensure compliance with rail and safety standards.
- Diagnose and correct failures and deficiencies within existing rolling stock.
- Evaluate designs to ensure they comply with rail industry regulations and client requirements.
- Incorporate whole life costs into design changes to ensure cost effectiveness.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers through stakeholder engagement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- CPEng, RPEQ, or MIEAust membership (or eligibility).
- Experience in designing and manufacturing rolling stock or electrical auxiliaries, such as traction motors, instrumentation, pantographs, converters, control systems, and supporting electrical infrastructure.
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- Familiarity with rail standards, including EN, RISSB, and AS/NZ.
