We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Advisor to join our team. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a highly skilled lawyer to play a key role in shaping the legal framework of our organization.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing complex legal matters, providing high-level strategic advice, and leading cross-functional teams. They will also have excellent problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual thinking abilities, with a strong commitment to mentorship and team development.
About the Role- Provide expert legal advice and guidance on planning, development, local government, and regulatory matters.
- Lead and manage complex litigation, dispute resolution, negotiations, and settlement processes with contractors and third parties.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including court documents and agreements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships within the organization, including with the Planning and Design teams.
- Advise on government law, privacy legislation, public access issues, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent postgraduate qualification, with a current NSW Practising Certificate.
- A minimum of 6+ years post-qualification experience in a senior legal role, with a solid background in local government and planning law.
- Proven expertise in acting in legal proceedings in the NSW Land and Environment Court and providing strategic legal advice.
- Strong knowledge of legislative frameworks, including environmental planning instruments and compliance regulations relevant to local government.
