Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled professional to lead the development and implementation of underground ventilation systems for large-scale tunnelling projects. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in ventilation system design, optimization, and troubleshooting, as well as strong knowledge of Australian WHS/OHS compliance.

  • Design and optimize underground ventilation systems for tunnels and caverns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Perform airflow simulations, thermal load assessments, and troubleshoot ventilation and air quality issues across multiple project sites.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance during excavation, installation, and commissioning, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.
  • Lead and mentor small engineering teams; manage deliverables, timelines, and quality while fostering technical growth.
  • Represent ventilation engineering in meetings with clients, JV partners, government, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and geotechnical teams for integrated solutions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 8–12 years of experience as a Ventilation Engineer, with at least 3–4 years in Australia, including hands-on involvement in tunnelling or mining projects.
  • Proven experience in ventilation system design, optimization, troubleshooting, airflow simulations, and thermal load evaluations, with strong knowledge of Australian WHS/OHS compliance.
  • Practical experience during excavation, installation, and commissioning, with ability to resolve ventilation-related issues under site conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams and coordinate with multidisciplinary groups (civil, electrical, mechanical, geotechnical).
  • Proficiency with ventilation simulation and thermal analysis software, preparation of technical reports, and familiarity with WHS standards.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mining, or Environmental Engineering, fluent English, valid Australian driver's licence, and unrestricted work rights in Australia.
  • Willingness to relocate to regional NSW, with no FIFO requirements.
