Job Summary:
The Parliament of Victoria is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Assistant to support the Legislative Council Committees on a full-time basis.
As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative and professional services to support our elected representatives and the democratic process.
About the Role:
This position requires a Research Assistant with proven research and writing skills, as well as demonstrated expertise in providing administrative services.
You will be responsible for supporting the Council Committees by conducting research, analyzing data, and providing accurate advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting research and gathering information to support the work of the Council Committees
- Providing administrative support to the committees, including preparing reports and presentations
- Developing and maintaining databases and spreadsheets to track committee activities
- Collaborating with committee staff to develop policy briefs and other materials
- Providing advice and guidance to committee members and staff on legislative and procedural matters
Requirements:
- Proven research and writing skills, with experience in conducting research and developing reports and presentations
- Demonstrated expertise in providing administrative services, including preparing reports and presentations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to analyze complex data and provide recommendations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with committee members, staff, and external stakeholders
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
