About Us

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria is a jurisdiction within the Court Services statutory authority. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.

We determine in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues. This equates to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.

Our goal is to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

About The Role

This role undertakes assessments and briefs post-release case planning to people on remand who present with complex needs to support their transition back into the community.

  1. Provide assessment and brief post-release case planning to people on remand with multiple risks and needs.
  2. Identify client risks and develop risk management and/or harm minimization strategies in relation to these risks.
  3. Access, coordinate, and monitor the delivery of a range of treatments and supports for clients, including housing, alcohol/drug treatment, family violence interventions, and mental health treatment.

You will be based at a metropolitan-based prison. Travel to other prisons in the region or other CSS locations may be required.

Required Skills And Qualifications

About You

  • Tertiary qualification related to case management practice with forensic clients, such as social work, psychology, welfare, drug and alcohol, or another related field, and/or relevant experience.
  • Assessment, Referral, and Case Planning experience in engaging and working with clients with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated ability at building collaborative relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Strong team player with effective communication skills and a flexible approach.
