Job Description

The Department of Justice QLD is seeking a senior leader to oversee the litigation team within the Legal Services Commission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice on statutory responsibilities and service deliverables.
  • Lead and manage the Commission's litigation team, preparing for and appearing in various hearings and disciplinary proceedings.
  • Advise, mentor, and support staff while fostering a positive culture and understanding individual contributions to business outcomes.
  • Develop and drive legislative and policy change to enhance regulatory functions.
  • Proactively improve policies, procedures, and work practices to maintain high standards of service.
Senior Leadership Role
  • Provide leadership and management of resources to ensure appropriate application of statutory powers and obligations.
  • Oversight strategic and litigation performance.
Requirements
  • Admission as an Australian lawyer and eligibility for a practising certificate in Queensland.
  • A current driver licence is required for travelling to appearances at Court or Tribunal hearings outside the Brisbane CBD.
