Effective Leadership Role: Director of Litigation

The Director of Litigation plays a pivotal role in leading the litigation team and driving the Commission's legal strategies forward.

This position requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and expertise in law to provide expert advice on the Commissioner's functions, statutory responsibilities, and service deliverables.

  • Develop and implement effective litigation strategies to achieve the Commission's goals;
  • Lead and manage the litigation team effectively to ensure successful outcomes in all legal proceedings;
  • Prepare, instruct, and appear in various legal proceedings, including discipline applications, prosecutions, and enforcement actions;
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to staff to foster a positive work environment and promote high standards of professionalism;
  • Review and develop complex legislative and policy changes to enhance the Commission's regulatory functions and maintain high standards of service delivery;
  • Mentor and advise the team to promote good work practices, quality results, and continuous improvement;
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Solicitor Conduct Rules and display high standards of professional ethical conduct.

As a member of the Commission's senior leadership team, you will:

  • Lead and manage the Commission's resources to ensure effective application of statutory powers and obligations;
  • Oversee the Commission's strategic and litigation performance to drive success;
  • Represent the Commissioner at external forums and meetings professionally and effectively.
