Senior Analytical Chemist Role

This is a challenging and rewarding position for a highly skilled analytical chemist to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sampling and testing programs in line with scheduled programs, under guidance from senior staff.
  • Operate, calibrate and maintain advanced analytical instruments including Gas Chromatography (GC), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) and Ion Chromatography (IC).
  • Maintain comprehensive laboratory records including calibration data, results and maintenance logs in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Safely operate sampling stations handling liquefied hydrocarbons, gases, cryogenic liquids and hazardous aqueous samples.
  • Interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) drawings to configure sampling equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Perform LNG custody transfer analysis with precision and adherence to protocols.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), surface tension and physical property analysis in support of foam, emulsion and phase separation studies.
  • Develop cheminformatics procedures to support advanced chemical investigations and testing governance.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience working with gas and petrochemical products.
  • Strong competency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A sound understanding of laboratory quality systems ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, safety awareness and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
