Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of the public in various contexts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, investigations, and compliance actions related to Public Health, Environmental Health, and Dangerous Goods Safety Management.
  • Assess and determine compliance of licensed premises and activities, and initiate appropriate action to ensure compliance.
  • Manage and supervise the application, approval, and compliance issues associated with regulated activities.
  • Exercise authorized powers and functions in the administration and enforcement of relevant local laws and Acts.
  • Provide technical advice, monitoring, and guidance on Environmental Health legislation, and deliver education and awareness information to stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Hold or be currently enrolled in a Degree in Applied Science (Environmental Health) or a qualification allowing eligibility for professional membership of Environmental Health Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in the technical components of Environmental Health, including the use of required equipment and an understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Ability to exercise judgement in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation.
  • Intermediate skills and knowledge in the effective utilization of data systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with compliance complaints handling and investigations.
  • High level of communication skills and the ability to influence and educate to encourage voluntary compliance.
