Engagement Officer

We are seeking an experienced Engagement Officer to join our team in Canberra. As an Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in supporting Assistant Directors in engaging with stakeholders to achieve maximum benefits for Indigenous Australians.
Key Responsibilities- Travel to remote localities to engage with stakeholders and deliver voter education sessions and enrolment activities.
- Liaise with partners to arrange meetings at the community level to understand local challenges to electoral participation.
- Identify and assist candidates to apply for temporary election polling positions.
- Obtain relevant approvals to enter community for engagement activities and ensure local protocols are followed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messages and information for a variety of audiences.
- Organised, with strong ability to contribute to activities, including attention to detail and delivering results.
- Ability to identify problems and work to resolve them.
- A strong commitment to working harmoniously within a team to achieve positive results.
- An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
