About the Role

As a Career Counsellor, you will work closely with school-aged early school leavers to deliver tailored career guidance and support. Your role will involve providing one-on-one counselling sessions, conducting initial check-ins to understand students' aspirations, needs, and preferred support methods.

You will also design and implement career education activities and employability programs, collaborating with stakeholders to enhance youth employment outcomes. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people.

Duties

  • Provide individualised career counselling to help young people identify and achieve their career goals.
  • Work closely with school-aged early school leavers, delivering targeted outreach and guidance, focusing on those at risk of disengagement.
  • Conduct initial check-ins to understand students' aspirations, needs, and preferred support methods.
  • Design and implement career education activities and employability programs.

Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant Bachelor's degree or Graduate Certificate in Career Development/Counselling.
  • 5+ years' experience in a specialised career counselling role.
  • Experience working with school-aged young people, including Koorie young people and young people with disabilities.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of career development theory and practice.
  • High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
