Job Overview:

This role is responsible for providing technical guidance and support to the business in mine closure planning, management, and minimization of risks and impacts on the physical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive mine closure plans in accordance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and company objectives
  • Work with site personnel and contractors to ensure mine closure studies and site closure plans meet project and regulatory requirements
  • Undertake project planning and coordination for research and development projects related to mine closure
  • Assist in developing business closure standards and procedures
  • Provide information and guidance on closure aspects at operational sites
  • Contribute to engagement with stakeholders to ensure their concerns and expectations are addressed
  • Project manage required research for closure on various studies and scientific research projects

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geoscience, or similar
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in mining; operations or consultancy
  • Mine closure/environmental restoration experience highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Environmental Legislation relevant to the Mining Industry
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills (drafting mine closure plans, scope of work etc.)
  • Experience across broad range of technical disciplines including mine planning, hydrogeology, geochemistry, landform design, and evolution
  • Project management and/or contractor management experience
  • Skills in Microsoft Office Suite - particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project
