Data Center Operations Expert

As a Data Center Operations Expert, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of data center facilities. Your primary focus will be on maintaining critical infrastructure, managing vendors, and reporting metrics to stakeholders.

Key aspects of our operations include designing, planning, delivering, and maintaining AWS global infrastructure. This involves supporting all AWS Data Centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that enable customers to access innovative services continuously.

The Infrastructure Operations team is the backbone of AWS, providing 24/7 support for the rapidly growing AWS business and customers. We maintain the physical infrastructure of AWS, adhering to high standards for operational performance in safety, security, availability, productivity, capacity, efficiency, and cost.

  • Maintaining performance benchmarks and conducting analyses to prepare reports on critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Generating Change Management requests and Incident Management tickets as directed.
  • Learning and contributing to documentation relevant to business and facility operations.
  • Assisting with the installation of racks and provision of power/cooling within constraints.
  • Participating in routine maintenance and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc.
  • Assisting with the management of facility assets and provision of infrastructure and inventory asset management as directed.
  • Participating in Construction and Operational Meetings as required.
  • Assisting with Work Order compliance and review of contractual SLAs.
  • Interfacing with Infra Ops teams for day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Assisting in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering or services issue.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and satisfaction.

To succeed in this role, you will need a strong technical understanding (electrical/mechanical) and a passion to learn data center operations. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant discipline is preferred, along with data center engineering/operations experience and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a relevant discipline.
