Senior Risk and Controls Manager, Supplier Oversight

About the Role
The Business Banking (BB) division provides a comprehensive suite of transaction, lending, and trading solutions tailored for over 1 million small to medium enterprise clients, mid-market corporations, and regional agribusinesses. Additionally, it caters to personal and institutional online trading clients through CommSec.
Overview of BB Line 1 Risk Chapter
The BB Line 1 Risk Chapter works in close partnership with Product teams to support their strategic goals, aiming for a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +30. In this capacity, you will assist the Merchants Solution Domain in managing and overseeing risks associated with their products and services, ensuring positive customer outcomes with a particular emphasis on third-party risk management. Your role will involve identifying, understanding, and effectively mitigating risks to ensure alignment with the Group's risk appetite.
Key Contributions
As a Senior Manager of Risk and Controls, you will be instrumental in ensuring that third-party risks are effectively managed. This includes overseeing the onboarding, management, and offboarding of third parties, while ensuring compliance with the Group Supplier Lifecycle Framework. Furthermore, you will contribute to broader supplier risk and governance initiatives across the BB division. As a subject matter expert, you will ensure that supplier business owners adhere to both Group and regulatory standards in supplier management.
Your Primary Responsibilities
- Foster a proactive risk culture by collaborating with business partners, procurement, and Line 2 teams to develop optimal strategies for managing third-party risks.
- Provide guidance on all aspects of the supplier lifecycle and governance activities, including assisting business owners with risk assessments related to suppliers.
- Design and implement controls aimed at enhancing risk and compliance outcomes, while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement in business processes and controls.
- Maintain data integrity in key systems (e.g., RiskInSite, SRG) to support business partners in governing and managing third-party risks.
- Collaborate with the business to manage risks and compliance obligations within the established risk appetite, ensuring that risks are profiled and updated in the Risk Profile (RCSA) as necessary.
- Adhere to the Code of Conduct, which outlines the expected standards of behavior, actions, and decisions for all employees.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience in procurement and supplier management, with a background in advising or managing third-party arrangements.
- Strong understanding of Operational Risk and Compliance Management Frameworks, with the ability to analyze and identify risks and recommend appropriate actions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of building relationships and managing diverse stakeholders with varying priorities.
- Solid business acumen, with an understanding of the organization's strategic priorities.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across various teams and levels of seniority.
