About the Role

The Public Transport Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rail Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of rail safety in Western Australia.

In this role, you will oversee the development and management of rail safety investigation processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and rail safety accreditation requirements. You will lead high-level investigations into major rail incidents, review divisional investigations, and identify systemic issues to prevent future incidents.

You will also manage the PTA's incident reporting system, analyzing data trends to guide action plans and providing regular reports on investigation outcomes, trends, and recommendation statuses. Additionally, you will lead safety review meetings and maintain an action register to track and ensure timely resolution of investigation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing guidance, training, and mentoring to divisional staff in investigation processes
  • Maintaining current knowledge of industry standards
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting the PTA Executive by advising on investigation processes and chairing internal enquiry groups

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Extensive experience in high-level rail safety investigations, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
