Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

At Jenny Barbour IT & Project Recruitment, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud and on-premises infrastructure solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement Microsoft 365 cloud solutions, including virtual environments and network configurations.
  • Integrate and manage hybrid cloud environments that combine Azure/AWS with on-premises infrastructure.
  • Ensure effective deployment and ongoing maintenance of Microsoft 365 services like Exchange Online, Teams, and Intune.
  • Implement robust backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Support Windows servers, VMware environments, Active Directory, high availability technologies, Virtual Desktop, Remote Access, network administration, storage, and hardware.
  • Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect IT infrastructure and data.
  • Implement and manage security measures such as multi-factor authentication, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption technologies.
  • Respond to and manage security incidents, ensuring timely resolution and mitigation of risks.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of both on-premise and cloud services, ensuring high availability and security compliance.
  • Provide expert technical support and resolve complex issues related to Azure, Microsoft 365, and associated technologies.
  • Execute seamless system upgrades, migrations, and patch management across on-premise and cloud environments.
Requirements:
  • Experience as a Microsoft Systems Engineer or in a similar role, with expertise in VMware, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows and/or Linux Server, AD, Entra ID, DNS, Intune, and Group Policy.
  • Skilled in building, running, and managing M365 cloud solutions such as Azure VMs, Virtual Networks, Azure Active Directory, Azure DNS, Azure Intune, and Group Policy.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune.
  • Hands-on experience with hybrid cloud environments and integrating Azure with on-premises Windows Server infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability assessment tools.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing security measures for IT infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
  • Strong understanding of network security, encryption technologies, and security incident response.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, able to communicate to a wide audience, and work collaboratively with openness and flexibility to deliver solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to identify organizational and technological opportunities for improvement and initiate change.
  • Great written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, innovative thinker with excellent problem-solving skills who thrives in a dynamic environment and can adapt quickly to new methodologies and technologies.
