Job Description
The Skills and Training Manager is responsible for leading the operational approach to skills training and career development. The position involves working under the direction of the Head of Campus and contributes to the life of the school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the overall success of the school through effective skills training and career development programs.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and participation in skills training and career development initiatives.
- Collaborate with staff members to provide support and resources for students transitioning to further education or employment.
- Organize industry visits and career expos to promote career awareness and exploration among students.
- Present information on skills training and career development opportunities at community circle, learning hubs, and school newsletter meetings.
- Schedule and facilitate end-of-year graduation ceremonies and celebrations for students completing certificates and micro-credentials.
- Negotiate partnerships with local businesses, agencies, employers, RTOs, and workplaces to develop a network of transition support options for employment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Understanding of Catholic educational values and commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven leadership experience in skills training and career development, with expertise in vocational education and training.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for working in a complex organizational structure.
- Tertiary qualifications in teaching, social work, youth work, or similar field, along with a current Queensland Working with Children and Young People 'blue card.'
- Demonstrated ability to model respect, honesty, participation, and safety principles in interactions with students, staff, and stakeholders.
- Ability to utilize data to inform decisions and drive future directions in skills training and career development.
