Job Title: Community Engagement Advisor

We're seeking an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to join our team as a Community Engagement Advisor. As a key member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring we work in a culturally appropriate and safe way. Your skills and capabilities will be applicable across multiple projects, sectors, and practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support project teams to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, reviewing deliverables for cultural nuance.
  • Help design stakeholder engagement strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and communities.
  • Develop networks and mobilise community engagement for projects.
  • Lead and/or support consultation activities, including interviews, focus groups, workshops, and forums.
  • Listen to and help manage community feedback, mitigating risks and ensuring public relations.
  • Review and contribute to proposals and project deliverables, ensuring cultural nuance and safety.
  • Support Nousers to build cultural competence through work on project teams and other activities.
  • Provide universal and targeted cultural competency professional development.
  • Support the team to write more culturally safe and responsive proposals.
Requirements:
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Self-directed, with a preference for working autonomously.
  • Collaborator, with energy and enthusiasm for working with others.
  • Fast mover, comfortable with ambiguity and fluid structural arrangements.
  • Great communicator, able to provide insights and feedback.
Practical Experience:
  • Prior experience in a diverse professional setting, including not-for-profits and/or Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
  • Deep understanding and cultural connection to the NT.
  • Experience with facilitation and consultation activities.
