Hardware Sustaining Engineering Opportunities

The Hardware Sustaining Engineer role involves supporting, maintaining, and enhancing existing hardware products throughout their lifecycle.

  • Product Support & Maintenance: Provide engineering support for released hardware products across their lifecycle, ensuring seamless performance and minimal downtime.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware failures in production, field, and customer environments, driving process improvements and cost reductions.
  • Develop and implement engineering change orders/product change notices (PCNs) to address design improvements, manufacturing enhancements, and component obsolescence, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Manufacturing & Quality Interface:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve build and test issues, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support failure analysis, root cause identification, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), promoting a proactive approach to quality assurance.
  • Work with design engineering and quality teams to maintain compliance with applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
Product Documentation:
  • Maintain and update design documentation, schematics, BOMs, and test procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Validate and verify design changes through lab testing and simulations, leveraging data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
  • Define test plans for verification of new designs, prioritizing efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 3-7 years of experience in hardware design, sustaining engineering, or manufacturing support are also required. Strong knowledge of analog/digital electronics, PCB design, and system-level troubleshooting are essential. Experience with lab equipment, industry standards, and problem-solving skills are also necessary.
