Primary Health Care Specialist

This role involves delivering culturally safe and responsive primary health care in a community-focused setting.

The successful candidate will have experience in conducting patient assessments, diagnoses, and clinical decision-making. They will also be skilled at prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic investigations, and managing recalls and reminders.

Collaboration across departments and multidisciplinary teams is essential for success in this position. The specialist will lead quality improvement activities, participate in clinical governance, and contribute to safeguarding practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Culturally safe and responsive primary health care delivery
  • Conduct independent patient assessments and diagnoses
  • Prescribe medications under Kimberley Standard Drug List and authorised SASAs
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic investigations
  • Manage recalls and reminders processes
  • Lead quality improvement activities and clinical audits
Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold current AHPRA registration with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner. They will have demonstrated experience in a primary healthcare setting and strong communication skills across multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams.

Clinical expertise in triage, treatment, and ongoing care management is essential. Additionally, cultural humility and a willingness to learn in an Aboriginal health context are key requirements.
