Job Summary:

The Financial Administrator, Academic Department will provide financial, administrative, and analytical support to the programs, special projects, and contract activity for the Academic Department of Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and develop the operating/capital budget, quarterly budget review, and year-end budget process.
  • Assist with the coordination of capital equipment acquisition, accounts payable and receivable, and provide financial and operational reports to meet the information needs of Management.
  • Ensure that all accounting processes adhere to general accounting principles, the College's policies and directives, as well as the Broader Public Sector Directives.
  • Provide day-to-day Workday support to the Academic Department, including onboarding, validating time entries, and time keeper duties.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the Workday application as it relates to the College's hiring and processing of all OTFT staff and faculty.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) year diploma or equivalent in Business Administration or equivalents such as Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience progressively responsible business/budgetary administration experience, preferably at a post-secondary institution.
  • Experience in working in an academic department with multiple levels of responsibility to faculty, students, and the community.
  • Experience with the College processes for course loading, SWF's, enrolment projections, financial year-end, fixed assets, annual budget process, and quarterly reviews and program costing.
  • Experience in working with the College Financial/Human Resources/Payroll and Student Information Systems.
