
Torres Strait Islander Community Development Manager

This is an identified position for a Torres Strait Islander person. The successful candidate will work closely with centre teams and the community to make a meaningful difference in shaping culturally safe learning environments for Torres Strait Islander children and families.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Building strong relationships with Torres Strait Islander communities, driving change, and connecting our centres with these communities to create positive lasting impacts for children and families.
- Using deep cultural knowledge to amplify impact and strengthen commitment to culturally inclusive education and environments.
- Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to implement Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) and foster cultural safety and responsiveness across Goodstart.
We are looking for a skilled relationship-builder, advocate for change, and dedicated individual who supports our centres in creating culturally supportive environments.

To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Strengths and experience in connecting and collaborating with the Torres Strait Islander community both in the Islands and on the Mainland.
- Proven experience of advising on Torres Strait Islander culture and history.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and communicate strengths and needs of culturally responsive early childhood educational practice.
- Excellent written communication skills reports resource development training materials policy and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate and influence across all levels within the organisation.
- Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
