About the RoleWe are looking for a seasoned Health, Safety & Wellbeing professional with expertise in high-risk environments, such as warehouses or logistics. The ideal candidate will have excellent relationship-building skills, be able to learn quickly, and be highly motivated to strategically partner with our Distribution Centre team.
This full-time role is based on-site at our Tullamarine Distribution Centre, and you will work closely with the National Distribution Centre Manager, Distribution Centre Operations Managers and Zone Managers.
Main Responsibilities- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure daily compliance with workplace, health and safety regulations, including those set by WorkSafe.
- Safety Advice and Support: Provide expert advice on safety-related matters and stay updated on industry best practices and legislative changes.
- Operations Support: Support the operations team with chain of responsibility activities and processes.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct and lead safety audits, risk assessments and risk control activities, educating and overseeing team members on health and safety procedures.
- Incident Investigations: Lead investigations into accidents, determining root causes, and providing recommendations to eliminate future hazards or risks.
- Action Tracking: Ensure actions from inspections, audits, incident investigations, observations, hazard reports, team meetings, and workforce meetings are captured, recorded, and followed through until closed out.
- WHS Activities: Support workplace health and safety activities and ensure WHS legislation and regulations are prudently met.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety & Wellbeing professional with a strong background in warehouse, logistics, or other high-risk operational environments. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Certificate IV or higher in Occupational Health and Safety or demonstrated knowledge and experience sufficient to meet the requirements of the role.
- Previous experience as a Safety professional in a warehouse environment or high-risk industrial environment.
- ICAM Lead Investigator or Taproot Incident Investigation qualification (desired).
- Inspection and report writing skills.
- Experience working with dangerous goods.
- Strong understanding of relevant state and national WHS legislation in Australia & New Zealand.
- Experience formulating and making robust and trusted recommendations to management.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, prioritisation skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer acumen and reasonable typing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly; Word and Outlook).
- Good communication (both written and verbal) skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Capacity to be flexible and resilient with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven competency in establishing a safety culture across the organisation while dealing with geographically dispersed stakeholders.
