Job Opportunity

This role involves leading and managing a team responsible for proactive compliance, inspections, and audits of Class 1 buildings. The team investigates complaints and referrals relating to non-compliant building work and issues rectification orders under various Acts.

About the Team

The team works closely with stakeholders to ensure that building standards are met, and quality housing is delivered. They contribute to the development of policies and procedures to improve industry outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading strategic, targeted, and risk-based audit programs to detect and deter non-compliance and increase quality and standards within the NSW building industry
  • Managing high-profile and contentious audits, investigations, complaints, reviews, and policy issues relevant to the business area and providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior officers
  • Determining team priorities and allocating resources to ensure compliance activities are carried out efficiently and timely in accordance with the organisation's objectives
  • Providing high-level specialised building expertise and expert advice to inform decision making and support the organisation to meet its objectives
Requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise and knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and legislation, regulation, policies, and practices
  • Demonstrated practical experience in one or more areas of building regulation, including builder/trade background, clerk of works, site supervision, technical dispute resolution
