Job Overview

This role requires a highly skilled professional to oversee the cost control processes within our organisation. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing budgets, forecasting expenses, and analysing financial data.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reporting of costs, identifying areas for cost reduction, and implementing process improvements.

About the Role

  • Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the reconciliation of indirect costs, including flights, accommodation, and timesheets.

  • Ensure correct facility and commodity coding.

  • Raise capital appropriation requests (CAR).

  • Support revenue forecasting and contract variations with cost data.

  • Assist in updating package monthly forecasts, trends, and contingency.

  • Support capitalization and project cost transfers.

  • Manage the cost control shared mailbox.

  • Report and provide cost analysis support to projects.

  • Ensure compliance to project controls guidelines and procedures.

  • Manage cost assessments and ensure timely and accurate cost validation and valuation.

  • Assist in maintaining the integrity of integrated project cost reports.

  • Support development of regular cost and change management reports, including professional analysis and commentary.

  • Assist in the development and update of project cash flow forecasting.

  • Collaborate with planners/schedulers, contracts, and estimating groups to ensure implications of changes are well articulated and understood.

  • Provide technical support to project stakeholders.

  • Provide an independent assessment of package progress and estimate at completion.

Requirements

  • Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience working on large mining projects and dealing with multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Advanced level skills in recognised software systems.

  • Good level Excel spreadsheet skills to verify and cross-check data accuracy across systems.

  • Familiarity with running reports for extraction of information from SAP.

  • Able to work in a tight schedule to meet reporting cut-offs.

  • Self-starter to drive and work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong team player to work closely with project members cutting across levels.
