About Us

We are seeking a garden labourer to assist with various tasks related to garden maintenance. This hands-on role is based at Australian National University.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with plants and a desire to learn and grow in the horticultural industry. They should be able to operate hand tools safely and effectively under guidance, as well as load and unload materials from trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with garden maintenance tasks such as hedging, weeding, pruning, planting, and mulching.
  • Operate hand tools such as hedgers, blowers and whippersnippers and petrol gear such as push mowers and ride on plant equipment safely and effectively under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Loading and unloading materials, plants, and equipment from trucks and trailers.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.

About You

You have a strong work ethic and commitment to completing tasks efficiently and to the highest standards. Previous experience in landscaping, gardening, or a related field will be highly regarded. This role can be physically demanding and you must have the ability to safely lift and carry heavy objects, bend, squat, kneel and stand for extended periods.

Your ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team will help you to be successful in this role. You have a current driver's licence and have, or are willing to obtain, a white card and Working with Children Check.
