Energy Markets Specialist

The Senior Commercial/Regulatory Analyst role is a key position within the Operations division, specifically within the Market Management department.
This role sits at the intersection of commercial and regulatory expertise, working closely with internal stakeholders and industry participants. Primary responsibilities include analyzing default and suspension events under market rules, developing internal guidance and procedures to support best practice operations, writing risk reports and regulatory reports, investigating potential non-compliance under National Gas Rules and National Electricity Rules, presenting AEMO positions at industry forums, ensuring internal operational processes align with market rules and production cycles, and contributing to delivery of industry reform projects through interpretation of market rules.
A high level of commercial acumen and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role, as well as experience in a legal, compliance, and rules-based setting. A sound understanding of energy market structure, including NEM, WEM, or gas markets, is also highly advantageous.
We are seeking a proactive and collaborative individual with strong communication and analytical skills to contribute to operational excellence within a supportive and high-performing team. The ideal candidate will be able to draw conclusions from data and rule inputs, and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
