As a Director within the R&D team at RSM AUSTRALIA, you will focus on delivering exceptional client service by providing advice on R&D Tax Incentive matters and other relevant incentives. Reporting to Partners, you will also mentor and manage junior staff, working with technical experts and innovators to develop groundbreaking technologies in various industry fields.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end R&D Tax compliance cycle, including meetings and correspondence with clients, documentation collation, technical report drafting, eligible expenditure calculation, advice on adopted positions, legislative reasoning, and overall client relationship management.
  • Lead a team on complex assignments, including junior staff management.
  • Research legislation and regulations, such as R&D Tax Incentive, and related laws, providing technical advice on their application and government guidance materials.
  • Ongoing consideration of the R&D Tax Incentive and general or other tax compliance landscape, formulating risk mitigation and process improvement strategies.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, including administrative tasks like billing and cash collections.
  • Mentor junior staff and collaborate across the National R&D Tax and Government Incentive practice through national training sessions.
  • Attend networking events to build internal and external networks for Business Development opportunities.

Essential qualifications include:

  • A Science, Engineering, IT, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Law, or Business degree.
  • At least 5 years' experience in professional services focusing on R&D Tax Incentive or R&D regulator experience.
  • Strong written communication skills, demonstrated through technical, scientific, or legal writing.
  • Strong analytical skills, including assessing law and providing well-reasoned arguments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, with additional tools being advantageous.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Leadership skills, including practice management and people management.
  • Business acumen and maturity to manage client relationships in real time.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • A technical specialty in Science, Engineering, or IT.
  • Postgraduate studies.
  • Deep knowledge of R&D Tax Incentive legislation.
  • Strong business acumen and maturity to manage client relationships.

The estimated annual salary for this role is around $120,000 AUD. However, this figure may vary based on location, experience, and other factors.
