Business Development Manager Position

We're a Chartered Accounting and management consulting practice that punches above its weight on tech, advisory work and client service.

The Opportunity As part of our next growth phase, we're appointing a Business Development Manager to own a portfolio of business clients.

You'll be the first point of contact for clients, set the plan for each engagement, review work produced by the team, and drive outcomes across compliance, management reporting and practical advisory.

  • Be the day-to-day advisor for a portfolio of SME clients
  • Run planning calls, scope work, and set expectations
  • Review year-end financial statements, income tax returns and BAS/IAS prepared by the team; resolve complex issues and sign off quality
  • Lead delivery of monthly/quarterly management reports, 3-way forecasts, cashflow insights and practical recommendations
  • Couch juniors and seniors, give timely review notes, and contribute to training and process improvements
  • Coordinate with external advisors to progress outcomes and close out queries

Qualifications, Experience & Attributes:

  • 7+ years in business services/tax with demonstrable client facing experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero; confident with Excel and cloud tools
  • Sharp reviewer: you can explain the why behind your review notes and help the team learn
  • Commercial mindset: comfortable discussing scope, fixed fees vs time-cost, and managing WIP/recoverability
  • Clear written and verbal communicator who builds trust quickly with clients
