About Our Team

The Minor Vessel Systems Program Office (MVSPO) operates within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG), supporting Navy Minor Vessels and Army Amphibious capabilities from offices in Henderson (WA), Darwin, and Cairns. As part of NSSG, MVSPO is evolving into the Maritime Sustainment Model (MSM) under Plan Galileo.

HMAS Cairns is the primary Defence establishment in the Cairns Region, hosting 900 Australian Defence Force and civilian personnel. Defence employees working in Cairns are eligible for locality benefits, with relocation assistance available for eligible APS employees required to relocate.

Key Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Govern and manage the delivery of contracted procurement services to meet prescribed supply preparedness requirements.">
  • Develop and maintain inventory-related budgets and associated procurement plans.">
  • Report, advise, and resolve complex emergent supply chain risks and issues.">
  • Perform critical analysis and synthesis of supply information to determine optimal inventory stocking levels of Minor Vessel Fleet unique items of supply.">

  • Able to govern and manage the processing of repairable items to sustain a 'fit for purpose' assets pool.">
  • Ability to perform independent research and analysis, conduct assessments, and implement policy-directed procedural work.">
  • Coordinate and contribute to the work of a diverse and integrated team, engaging and communicating with stakeholders to identify, respond, and provide advice on issues.">

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is $91,702 - $104,753 + up to 15.4% Superannuation, reflecting the location in Cairns, QLD.
