The Role
This APS 5 Work Health and Safety Officer position involves complex work health and safety work within an integrated workforce. You will be accountable for maintaining a well-developed understanding of and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
Your Responsibilities
- You will organise your workflow and make independent decisions relating to your area of responsibility.
- You will interpret and provide advice within the strategic welfare function area based on legislation, policy, and procedures.
- You will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments, investigations, and perform procedural, clerical, and administrative support work to achieve results.
- You will coordinate and contribute to the work of a team consistent with a work plan and provide advice and assistance on methods of task completion to team members.
What We're Looking For
- You should have strong skills and experience in researching and analysing activities to identify and address work health and safety risks to capability.
- You should be able to contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of work health and safety management systems in accordance with legislation and Defence policies.
- You should have high-level planning, organising, and prioritising skills, as well as the ability to manage complex work packages in compressed timeframes.
- You should possess excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills.

- A salary range of $83,706 - $89,659 + up to 15.4% Superannuation.
