The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Workshop based Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter to join our team in Townsville. This is a permanent full time position which will see you focus on all aspects of Heavy Diesel mechanics and mobile plant equipment fitting. You will learn to execute a range of OEM level services with a core focus on diagnostics, maintenance and repairs for our valued customer base.

You will be responsible for:

  • Safety Commitment – Proactive awareness and total assurance of Hitachi's number one priority – always exercising a high standard of precaution and duty of care to yourself and for others around you.
  • Overhauling all minor and major hydraulic and mechanical components on various equipment
  • Undertaking diagnostic work, failure analysis and repairs; liaising with technical specialists when required
  • Completion and submission of all relevant paperwork and reports
  • Supervising, mentoring and coaching assistance for apprentices

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Trade Qualifications - Minimum Certificate III in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Experience & Skillset - Heavy Diesel mechanics and field service fitters with demonstrated work experience and technical knowledge of construction equipment - Hitachi equipment experience highly regarded
  • Positive can do attitude
  • Analytical thinking - Ability to navigate complex technical issues in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
  • Autonomous productivity - Initiative to plan work fronts efficiently and effectively, delivering quality outcomes to ensure Total Customer Satisfaction
