The Opportunity
With significant growth in our service operations, our Townsville branch is looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This is a permanent full-time position that will see you working on all aspects of Heavy Diesel mechanics and mobile plant equipment fitting. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys varied and interesting work, as you will learn to execute a range of OEM level services with a focus on diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs for our valued customer base.
As a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for:
Safety Commitment – Proactive awareness and total assurance of Hitachi's number one priority – exercising a high standard of precaution and duty of care to yourself and others around you.
Overhauling all minor and major hydraulic and mechanical components on various equipment
Undertaking diagnostic work, failure analysis, and repairs; liaising with technical specialists when required
Completion and submission of all relevant paperwork and reports
Supervising, mentoring, and coaching assistance for apprentices
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Trade qualifications – minimum Certificate III in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
Experience and skillset – Heavy Diesel mechanics and field service fitters with demonstrated work experience and technical knowledge of construction equipment – Hitachi equipment experience highly regarded
Positive can-do attitude
Analytical thinking – ability to navigate complex technical issues in repair and maintenance services with minimal to zero rework
Autonomous productivity – initiative to plan work fronts efficiently and effectively, delivering quality outcomes to ensure Total Customer Satisfaction
