The role of Senior Accountant, Group Reporting and Advisory is a key position within MARS Recruitment, responsible for providing high-quality technical accounting advice and guidance to the business. This includes building, maintaining, and applying a portfolio of enterprise-wide accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • **Accounting Advisory:** Utilize commercial acumen and technical accounting expertise to provide high-quality advice to the business on the accounting treatment of non-standard transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, and disposals.
  • **Accounting Policies:** Develop, maintain, and apply a portfolio of enterprise-wide accounting policies to ensure they remain fit for purpose as the business evolves.
  • **Sustainability Reporting:** Collaborate with the sustainability reporting team to assess, plan, and implement controls and processes to ensure compliance with existing and emerging ESG reporting requirements.
  • **Learning and Development:** Contribute to the professional growth and continuous learning of the broader finance team.
  • **Stakeholder Management:** Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of seniority and across business lines.
  • **Auditors:** Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the audit process, ensuring all financial reporting is in line with required standards.
  • **Board Level Reporting:** Prepare and coordinate board-level reports that provide strategic insights into key judgments applied by the group.
  • **Project Management:** Oversee and manage reporting-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
  • **Industry Knowledge:** Develop an advanced understanding of the energy sector to inform financial reporting practices, ensuring they reflect industry-specific challenges and opportunities.

**Requirements:**

  • Experience with large ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Qualified Accountant (CA/CPA).
