About the Role:

Austal Ships is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team. As an HSE Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees, contractors, and the communities we operate in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement HSE training programs to ensure employees have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their jobs safely.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement HSE strategies and initiatives that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to employees and contractors on HSE matters.
  • Develop and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans to ensure a safe and effective response to emergencies.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics to senior management and the board of directors.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Certificate IV, diploma or degree in Health, Safety and Environment, or a related field.
  • Have a working knowledge of HSE legislation and regulations.
  • Have experience in conducting HSE incident investigations and providing technical guidance on HSE matters.
  • Have experience in developing and implementing HSE training programs and emergency response plans.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
