Lead Renewable Energy Development

Job Description:

The Lead Renewable Energy Development professional will oversee the development of WA's renewable energy business with initial focus on identifying new wind, solar, and storage opportunities. The role will work closely with internal resource units and external partners to develop a pipeline of opportunities in key states and move rapidly to develop these into full investment opportunities in line with the overall strategic plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the strategic plan for Squadron Energy's NSW and Victorian Renewable Energy business.
  • Utilize their network to find renewable energy opportunities that complement or enhance existing investments.
  • Work closely with the Project Delivery Team to ensure projects meet business objectives.
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders to help remove barriers to meeting business objectives.
  • Accountable for ensuring timely approvals and stakeholder consultation.
  • Work closely with the Infrastructure and Services Resource Unit to ensure all systems are in place for assets to work in the National Electricity Market.
  • Work closely with the CFO to ensure financial reporting is timely and informative.
  • Think outside the box to find opportunities to optimize the business's profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and statutory responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • An Engineering degree in a relevant discipline; an MBA would also be desirable.
  • Experience developing a new business with P&L responsibility.
  • Experience working through the development, construction, and operational phase of energy assets.
  • A strong understanding of Australia's energy system and its evolution to renewable energy.
  • Ability to understand technology and policy trends and their impact on the business.
  • Extensive commercial experience in the energy sector.
  • Maintain a broad network of contacts through the renewable industry's business segments of generation, networks, construction, asset management, regulation, and government.
  • Strong management & leadership skills and experience working with multiple disciplines.
  • Good financial acumen and ability to comfortably describe financial results.
  • Solution-focused with the ability to work in a fast-paced role.
