About the Role

This is a dynamic opportunity to lead our commitment to Aboriginal Engagement, ensuring the implementation of vital cultural heritage agreements for the Cooper Basin. The role is based in Brisbane.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Implement and monitor the Aboriginal Engagement Strategy (AES) for Santos, fostering effective relationships with key Indigenous groups and relevant government stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with key Indigenous groups and relevant government and other external stakeholders.
  • Act as the Santos Company Cooper Basin coordinator with native title claimants regarding land access, consents, cultural heritage, and other obligations in support of operational requirements.
  • Work with relevant Indigenous communities to ensure the development of sustainable relationships between the company and the communities.
  • Provide expert advice to Santos on Indigenous-related issues and strategies.
  • Ensure effective communication with internal stakeholders on issues and actions related to cultural heritage management.

We require:

  • Extensive experience in negotiation involving Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  • Sound understanding of the history and culture of Aboriginal communities.
  • Knowledge of current government policy frameworks as they relate to Indigenous peoples and particularly in relation to Indigenous participation in the resources sector.
  • Exceptional coordination skills and ability to prioritise tasks/requests/goals.
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Rugged experience working in a dynamic workplace while staying organised and positive.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office software.
  • Possession of a current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Ability to travel to the Cooper Basin and spend nights away from the home base as required.
What We Offer

A competitive salary of AU$100,000 - AU$120,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus excellent benefits including opportunities for professional growth and development.
