Medical Laboratory Technician - Transfusion Medicine Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team in the Transfusion Laboratory at a leading teaching hospital. As a key member of the laboratory, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality transfusion medicine services.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge and skills, with experience in performing a range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated). You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have a minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution. You should also have demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering pathology services within a Transfusion Laboratory, including the use of automation, laboratory information systems, patient systems, and quality systems.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform a range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) as directed
  • Undertake other laboratory duties, including blood fridge checks, blood stock inventory management, and equipment maintenance
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities
  • Work collaboratively with clinical laboratory staff to deliver high-quality results
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to patients, customers, and stakeholders
