About the Role

The Lead Design Engineer will spearhead the development and refinement of innovative engineering solutions across various projects. The primary responsibility will be to oversee the design process from concept through to completion, ensuring that all products meet high standards of quality, functionality, and reliability.

  • Presents creative and practical engineering design concepts
  • Leads and manages the engineering & drafting team
  • Coordinates design projects, makes detailed plans to accomplish goals
  • Directs, reviews, and approves product design and changes
  • Being a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert; keeps current on technology developments through continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Coordinates the preparation of project budgets, schedules, and resources
  • Prepares cost analysis on the development of new products (AFE) for opex or capex assets
  • Manages schedules for engineering, design, drafting & fabrication works
  • Coordinates with manufacturing to create prototypes and field test equipment, ensures regular communication to ensure that products are designed for manufacturing
  • Creates detailed engineering plans, processes, procedures, and standards
  • Quality assurance checks and product certification
  • Leads weekly engineering meetings to ensure critical next steps, owners, and dates are clearly communicated for on-time project delivery
  • Cooks and develops the engineering team members; ensures adequate resourcing and training needs
  • Develops relationships and fosters collaboration with functions including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business Development, and Operations to drive project delivery
  • Promotes a safe work environment and supports compliance to regulatory requirements as applicable
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful applicant will be a clear communicator, have a proactive outlook, and be results and timeline driven. The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics
  • RPEQ Certification
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in design & Engineering
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Project Management skills
  • Product quality & certification management experience

$150,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience
