About the Role

The Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for spearheading the development and refinement of innovative engineering solutions across a range of projects. This will involve overseeing the design process from concept through to completion, ensuring that all products meet high standards of quality, functionality, and reliability.

The successful applicant will have a strong background in engineering, with a degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, and RPEQ Certification. They will also have a minimum of 10 years' experience in design and engineering, with a proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, have a proactive outlook, and be results and timeline driven. They will also have strong leadership skills, project management skills, and experience in product quality and certification management.

As a trusted technical advisor and subject matter expert, the Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for keeping current on technology developments through continuing professional development (CPD). They will also be responsible for coordinating the preparation of project budgets, schedules, and resources, and for preparing cost analysis on the development of new products (AFE) for opex or capex assets.

The Lead Design Engineer will also be responsible for managing schedules for engineering, design, drafting & fabrication works, and for coordinating with manufacturing to create prototypes and field test equipment. They will also be responsible for creating detailed engineering plans, processes, procedures and standards, and for quality assurance checks and product certification.

As a key member of the engineering team, the Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for leading weekly engineering meetings to ensure critical next steps, owners and dates are clearly communicated for on time project delivery. They will also be responsible for coaching and developing the engineering team members, ensuring adequate resourcing and training needs.

The successful applicant will be a strong team player, with the ability to develop relationships and foster collaboration with functions including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Business Development, and Operations to drive project delivery.

As a key member of the MPC Kinetic team, the Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for promoting a safe work environment and supporting compliance to regulatory requirements as applicable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the design process from concept through to completion
  • Ensure all products meet high standards of quality, functionality, and reliability
  • Lead and manage engineering teams
