About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Secretary/Admin Officer to join our team at the Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Legal Service. As a key member of our administration team, you will provide high-quality administrative support to our legal services, ensuring the smooth operation of our office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal secretarial and database support, including preparing court documents, completing online applications, and preparing legal correspondence.
  • Assist with administration tasks, such as maintaining a petty cash system, monitoring supplies, and arranging repairs to property, plant, and equipment.
  • Support the Client Services Co-ordinator at reception, providing culturally proficient and efficient client services to walk-in clients and those calling in by phone.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to workplace health and safety protocols.
Requirements
  • Minimum three years' full-time experience in a professional services office environment as a Legal Secretary or Administration Officer.
  • Proven ability to work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Diploma or Certificate III in Administration (or equivalent four years' full-time work experience).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and client management systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Desirable Criteria
  • Current First Aid Certificate and/or Workplace Safety Representative Certificate.
  • Queensland Driver Licence.
  • Experience in an Aboriginal service, Aboriginality, and/or Torres Strait Islander identification.
