Child Safety Support Officer Role Overview

The Child Safety Support Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of children and families within the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with departmental policies, objectives, and current trends.
  • Provide culturally appropriate prevention, early intervention, and family support strategies to children and families.
  • Consult with stakeholders and negotiate with service providers to design, implement, and maintain casework and individualised service plans.
  • Liaise and develop links with relevant stakeholders, including families, community agencies, and government departments.
  • Participate effectively as a team member in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge relevant to the role and actively participate in learning and development processes.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accessible and clear case records consistent with departmental case management requirements.
Working Relationships

The Child Safety Support Officer will be part of a multi-disciplinary team reporting to a Senior Team Leader. Close collaborative relationships will also be established with non-government organisations and other government agencies within the community and broader region.
