Primary Care Specialist for Aboriginal Communities

To be a provider of holistic primary health care services featuring prevention and treatment in the Barkly region in a culturally responsive way.
About the Role
This is a rewarding position that requires strict confidentiality, initiative, and innovation while supporting our mission to improve Aboriginal Men's health in Tennant Creek, including surrounding communities.
You will work closely with the Aboriginal Health Practitioners, maintaining and developing culturally appropriate and accessible health services for men.
The responsibilities of this position include:
- Delivering health checks and promoting health awareness.
- Providing STI education, screening, and contract tracing.
- Delivering substance abuse care, nutritional care, and mental health care.
- Maintaining the Anyinginyi client/patient registration in accordance with client information systems Communicare as well as Medicare Closing the Gap (CTG) e-PIP guidelines.
- Using office equipment and technology in accordance with our policies.
- Assisting in the ordering and accounting for pharmaceutical and other supplies.
- Producing written reports as and when requested in relation to the activities and responsibilities of this portfolio.
- Delivering general health care – assessment and management of a broad range of clinical problems in consultation with AHP's, Doctors, other nurses or CARPA Standard Treatment Manual written protocols.
- Delivering health education and health promotion.
About You
To be considered for this position, you must possess current registration as a Registered Nurse and an evidenced understanding of the Primary Health Care system and key issues relevant to closing the gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Experience working with an Aboriginal organisation or communities will be highly regarded but is not essential, provided you can demonstrate a clear understanding of the issues pertaining to Aboriginal Primary Health Care and the social determinants of health in our surrounding communities.
A National Police Clearance and Ochre Card (NT Working with Children's) card obtainment is a requirement prior to commencement in this role.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of $104,817 - $111,990 per annum, plus generous salary packaging options and professional development opportunities.
